This is not any help whatsoever, but Jim has said that the reason the agencies haven’t solved it is because he’s an artist. He’s also said that a good cryptographer could solve it. I’m paraphrasing recent interviews. So what he’s saying is that agencies can’t solve Kryptos because they’ll only try known methods. He’s also saying that agency cryptographers aren’t good cryptographers, which means neither are we. Hmmm we should think more like good spies rather than the cookie cutter agency employees we all know.
