If you make a truth table for even and odd letters, I don’t think you can have the result of TT become IN with one manipulation(as Kryptosfan has shown) There must be a couple different manipulations

I was suggesting that there is a 1-1 correspondence in count. I don’t think anything I said implied simple substitution.

I’m happy thinking ABSCISSA and ABSENCE(K1) are just two words on the same page in Sanborn’s dictionary. I was quite ecstatic when you pointed out PALIMPSEST and PALINDROME were dictionary-neighbors....

Sorry, I was thinking of Caesar shift for some reason. I was just looking at the companion text at 64-69 YPTOSAB PTO NS O VTT NY P LN I BR E (add) Maybe that “ID by rows” does mean something

If you put in the rule that you add only if greater than or equal to the companion text and subtract otherwise you would get like a double helix or hour glass! N p B P Y o s E R VTT p t o L I N I guess...

I’m pretty sure NYPVTTMZFPK unmasked is XNXSVWESNEK which eventually (don’t know how yet) will be BERLINCLOCK. Any thoughts?

Imagine a car driving to some destination. The driver may use a mileage chart to quickly determine the distance. Sanborn once described the Solution process for the quagmire III sections as being like...

You know, in retrospect, if there was a “whirlpool” and a light then it would cause a flickering effect of letters spontaneously appearing in fragments all around the courtyard/CIA. To me that would be...

Personally, I think helps. If we include the “?” and put the cipher text in to a grid of width 7, the length with which is shows some periodicity, then a P and P are above each other. These P’s...

And the fact K -> K is interesting…perhaps…or perhaps I’ve just lost the plot.

Does one remember the scene in the movie, Mission to Mars, whereby the correct missing dna code had to be transmitted before the “face” would allow entry? Similarly perhaps “BERLIN” is in fact an...

“$50 for emails with Sanborn?” I would happily pay this if only I knew what his email address was. :( Maybe his email address is part of K4? Did we have email back then????

The $50 seems tacky and desperate. I don’t think we’d need to ask Jim if we actually had a solution. We’d know we’d had it all, and anyone could verify it. The solution would spread like wildfire when...
